Madrid’s promotional video «Diez planes para vivir Madrid» (Ten Plans to Experience Madrid) has been named the best tourism video in the world in the city category at the 34th World Tourism Film Awards, held in Valencia. The awards are presented by the International Tourism Film Festivals Committee (CIFFT).
The video, produced by the Delegated Tourism Area of the City Council, is part of a brand positioning strategy aimed at emphasising the capital’s tourism potential, as well as the unique experiences it offers visitors. The video was the highest rated entry in a competition that included the most highly voted productions from various festivals held in 2022.
Madrid competed for the award against tourism videos from countries such as Austria, Japan, France, Portugal, Poland, Croatia, and South Africa, as well as other Spanish cities. The video surpassed the second and third place entries by more than a dozen points. This international recognition is a first for Madrid after eight years of participation in the circuit. It was achieved through the creative and ingenious audio-visual project, showcasing different perspectives of Madrid as a destination, featuring an original premise that invites viewers to discover and visit the city.
This award confirms Madrid’s position as a leading producer of promotional tourism videos, adding to its recent achievements with other successful pieces such as “Flamenco Madrid,” “Help,” and “Jane Meets Madrid,” which have presented the city’s tourism image from different perspectives in recent years.
This new recognition is another impetus to continue emphasizing innovation, promoting the capital’s image, and highlighting its immense heritage and tourist offerings using audio-visual language.
Awards from Six International Festivals
Premiered during the 2021 International Tourism Fair (FITUR), «Diez planes para vivir Madrid» has received significant awards over the year at six of the ten CIFFT tourism film festivals. In March, it was recognized with the second prize in the urban destination category at the Japan World’s Tourism Film Festival, before securing that same position at the International Tourism Film Festival Zagreb in Croatia last October.
Furthermore, the video has been the top winner in its category at the Terres Travel Festival in Tortosa (Tarragona), the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards (France), the International Tourism Film Festival Africa (South Africa), and the ART&TUR-International Tourism Film Festival (Portugal). A very positive record with four first places and two second places that lead to it being named the best video destined to urban tourism.
